Let There be Peace on Earth

I was shopping in the mall with some friends on Friday when I heard about the tragedy in Connecticut. It's just so horrible to think about, unfortunately for these poor families they have to think about it every second of every day. Why anyone would even contemplate such a violent act is beyond most of our imaginations.

Especially in times like these I wonder why there is not peace on earth? Why people can't just get along and be happy with the life they have been given? Why people let the little things ruin some of the bigger things? Why people dwell on negativity? Sometimes people create unnecessary anger and believe lies as the truth but this is not the way it should be. We all have control over this.

Ephesians 4:29-32 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

I thank God that my children are safe and healthy.

It's not easy to forgive but it's easy to love and love is the greatest gift of all. So this Christmas let us all show our love and forgiveness to others. Don't be angry with the person who cuts you off in traffic; maybe they're rushing home to a sick child. Show patience to the man in the checkout line who wants to tell you his life story; you just might learn something. Go to that party you were invited to even though you don't know everyone; you might just meet your best friend there. Remember things could always be worse.

For the families in Connecticut this is the worst. Nothing could be worse then losing a child and I know all the moms out there are giving extra hugs to their little ones right now. Please remember these individuals and keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.
